During the last RSS2009 http://rss2009.free.fr conferency and the 14th SCANeR User Group, OKTAL has announced the RoadXML format, a new initiative dedicated to open its own file format resulting from the compilation of proprietary formats.
The ambitions of the RoadXML are :
- to take part to the standardization of road network format in order to enhance the the interopérabilité between the simulator,
- to improve the content of the road networks format to fulfill with the objectives of the future transport and mobility in respect with sustainable development and to buid more realistic and efficient civil and military training,
- to develop a unique gateway between driving simulators and traffic engineering applications.
Join the RoadXML community and give RoadXML http://www.road-xml.org a push in the right direction to the road network standard.
The Queensland University of Technology selects OKTAL for supplying a 6 DoF car driving simulator
OKTAL has announced the sale of a new advanced driving simulator to the Centre for Accident Research Road Safety (CARRS-Q) in Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
This driving simulator will mainly be used for research in road safety and injury prevention. The simulator will be a fully interactive environment, including traffic, roadway, and other environmental characteristics. It will provide the driver with high-fidelity motion, vision, audition, and force feedback cues.
The School of Transportation Engineering of TONGJI University (Shanghai, China) selects OKTAL as the supplier for the Traveller Behaviour and Traffic Safety Simulation Platform (TBTSSP), April 16th, 2009
OKTAL announced today the sale of a new advanced driving simulator to TONGJI University. The TBTSSP will be the most realistic driving simulator in China and will cope with the key research programs both in road engineering and traffic engineering. The TBTSSP will be open to the world and cooperate with other similar Labs worldwide.
This driving simulator will host a 8 DoF motion system (6 DoF + Table XY), a full car embedded into a dome and a large field of view visualisation system (more than 250°). The new generation of SCANeR™ software, SCANeR™studio, will drive the complete system, allowing reduced time to create realistic driving scenarios, driver immersion in a controlled virtual and highly realistic environment and improved experimental data collection and analysis.
RENAULT has chosen OKTAL to make its first simulator designed to educate drivers to eco-driving. The simulator implementation last for 3 months, it was presented at the workshop organized by Environment RENAULT in Chatenay-en-France from June 18 to 27 where the mark explained its environment policy, especially through its trademark Eco ² ( Ecological and Economic). Journalists from Europe have been pleased to try the simulator. see article
Thanks to the SCANeR™ CALLAS software, the simulator eco-driving allows a driving rendering particularly realistic and through the use of engine data supplied by Renault, to calculate very accurately the values of consumption and pollution instantaneous and cumulative.
Two vehicles equipped with the driving simulator and glaucoma detection centre will be touring France from town to town between 6th March and 12th April 2008
2008-03-20 / For the 4th national campaign for detecting and tracking glaucoma launched by the SFG (Société française du glaucome), in association with SFO (Société française d’ophtalmologie) and with the support of Alcon Laboratories, OKTAL has adapted a driving simulator to demonstrate the same sight conditions of someone suffering from glaucoma. Based on SCANeR©DT software , the simulator demonstrates a realistic 3D town centre bustling with people and vehicles.
OKTAL is strongly participating in DSC Europe 2008.
(www.imagine.mc) and is expecting you :
-to visit the SCANeR Village hosting its partners SmartEye , Rexroth , Innosimulation and Antycip
-to discover and try the new driving simulator engineered in collaboration with RENAULT and ENSAM Cluny

For more than 10 years, SCANeR©II has been setting the place in the driving simulator arena. We have done it again with the new Version 2.20.!!
It is more flexible, more powerful, easier-to-use and offers a lot of new features. Regardless of their own experience, engineers and scientists can rapidly and cost-effectively integrate advanced driving simulators, create road network environments, prepare scenarios, put the driver in situations and quickly analyze the simulation runs.
Here is a short video of scenario dedicated for driver training and prevention.

MOSCOW, September 6 - RIA Novosti. The Russian company Civil Sukhoi Aircraft Company and the French company Oktal signed a contract Wednesday on the delivery of courseware for pilots and maintenance personnel of the Russian airplane Superjet-100 (former RRJ).
OKTAL has been awarded a contract by CTAG to supply, install and commission a full scale car driving simulator based on its SCANeR©II simulation software package. The simulator includes a 6 DOF motion platform with a 4 tonnes payload, an embarked projection system with 3 channels for the front view and 3 channels for the rear view and can accomodate actual cars with sizes ranging from 2.5 m up to 5,2 m.
SCANeRII 2.14 and EVARISTE 4.2 are now available! Both new versions of our driving simulation and databases creation tools softwares provide new features but not the last!
The main changes in this major release are:
o New Recorder module enabling the user to "drive further" into the analysis of the simulation data,
o Visual modules performances,
o Night-Time driving module benefiting from the EU CLARESCO project,
o Mice scenario and traffic editor according to the user wish list,
o New Installer and Configurator modules enabling the user to easy install and configure SCANeRãII,
o EVARISTE now fully included in the road creation tools.
OKTAL has been awarded a contract by DECOMA INTERNATIONAL for the supply and installation of a headlight simulation module with a 3D night test loop and a simple driving interface.

The SCANeR©II Headlight Simulator enables the user to analyze, assess and predict the implications of a range of future lighting systems and combination of systems.
Based on both driving simulator technology and an innovative real-time headlamp simulation, the SCANeR©II Headlight Simulator allows to put the driver in real nighttime conditions (Man In the Loop - MIL) and to react with its own car. Thus, the lighting system which can be real (Hardware in the loop - HIL) or as a model (Software in the loop - SIL) is able to react according to the 3 actors: the driver, its vehicle and the road network environments.

This new generation driving simulator made by OKTAL for La MACIF (insurance leader company in France) was shown in Lyon (Rhône), the 3rd of October 2005. The simulator is physically made by a Citroën C2 placed on hydraulic jacks. The driver watches a giant screen on which a 3D video is projected recreating driving conditions in a town, on a road or a highway, and animated with various scenarios.
The 9th User Group Meeting will take place in RENAULT TECHNOCENTRE site in Paris (France) on Wednesday the 14th of September 2005.
