Official Press Release

In 2009, Boeing Company’s Philadelphia Rotorcraft Flight Simulation Laboratory selected the ORION Projector for the upgrade of its test and evaluation facility. The ORION Projector was selected because of its compatibility with ANVIS III night vision goggles (NVG) and with rotation rates of 50 degrees per second in a multi-channel configuration. The upgrade extended the facility’s capability to display and evaluate extreme maneuvers associated with rotorcraft development.

The ORION Projectors installed had both the ORION Green Option for NVG and the ORION Red Option for rapid moving images without smear.

Also in 2009, AEgis Technologies used Display Solutions’ ORION Projectors in its RSAF 412 Full-Motion Simulator Helicopter Trainer. The simulator required a visual system that could display day, dusk and night vision compatible images as well as function under motion-induced shock and vibration.

The ORION Projectors installed had both the ORION Blue Option for shock and vibration and the ORION Green Option for NVG.
The ORION Projector uses a versatile 3-Chip DLP Light Engine tuned to the particular requirements of the customers application. The ORION Projector is designed for those trainers that require motion base compatibility, rapid-motion scenes without smear and night vision sensor compatible scenes. ORION is also the first projector that conforms to the special requirements of simulation and training while maintaining a commercial off the shelf heritage.
